Farmshop, located in Brentwood, is the ultimate restaurant for “Ladies Who Lunch.” Tables of sophisticated women sit chatting over delicious, FRESH food, and the restaurant’s farm to table approach makes it the perfect restaurant to grab a great meal with good friends. Farmshop was one of the first restaurants I hit upon arriving in LA, and they definitely set the bar high for their neighboring competitors…
The restaurant describes itself as “farm to feast” and features the freshest produce possible from its favorite farms. This is why the menu at Farmshop is constantly changing; the chefs only utilize produce that is in season and appropriate for the time of year. Farm fresh food is also awesome because farm ingredients are typically gluten free. To start, I highly recommend the avocado hummus. I mean, two of my favorite foods combined to make an appetizer… I’m in! I also recommend the harvest salad, and from the vegetable section, the spice roasted carrots and charred Brussels sprouts. I tried both and they were pretty amazing. I’m a HUGE fan of crispy artichokes; however, the artichokes at Farmshop are subject to cross contamination, so if you are sensitive I would sit these out. For entrees, the farm egg salad notoast, market vegetable salad, and poached chicken salad are all gluten free and very popular.
If you enjoyed your meal, walk across the dining room to the Marketplace, and bring home your favorite ingredients to recreate the meal in your own kitchen! Farmshop also has a second location in Marin, a Brentwood-esque town located just outside of SF, and I look forward to going to the restaurant when NOBREAD takes over SF!
