Fogo de Chao takes Brazilian Steakhouse to the next level. Fogo is the perfect spot for your next lunch break, work party, client meeting, or date night. You are guaranteed to leave full, and with unlimited food constantly being brought to the table, all at one price point, you will be more than satisfied…
Saying that we enjoyed Fogo de Chao is an understatement. Prior to eating at Fogo, we were not familiar with the Brazilian Steakhouse style of dining. For those of you who have never been, you pay a single price for unlimited, buffet style, food from Fogo’s “Market Table,” and have the option of over 15 different types of meat that are brought to your plate, as well as unlimited gluten-free rolls, caramelized bananas, and various other side dishes that have my mouth watering as I write! Warning- just when you think you have tried everything, more food will start coming! Save room!
Although Fogo’s specialty is their meats, the restaurant is both vegetarian and vegan friendly. The market table offers a wide variety of fresh salads, fruits, and vegetables. What really sets Fogo de Chao apart from any other restaurant is the clean, cultured environment and the quality of their food. Fogo de Chao uses the Southern Brazilian traditional style of grilling called churrasco. Each piece of meat is put on a fire and sliced off individually to ensure that every bite has the perfect amount of char. There is only one meat at Fogo de Chao that gluten-free diners should stay away from– the Frango chicken leg, as it is marinaded in beer. On the table there is a card in front of each person with a red and green side. If you flip your card to the green side, there will be unlimited meat brought to your table side. The red alerts the staff to stop serving. The waiters at Fogo de Chao are quick, friendly, and embody the Southern Brazilian farm culture of the restaurant.
As gluten-free diners, one of our favorite parts about Fogo de Chao was that their bread rolls are naturally gluten-free. Pao de Queijo are warm, cheesy bread rolls made with sweet and sour yucca flour and Parmesan cheese. They also have a variety of gluten-free desserts, such as the papaya cream (blended papaya with vanilla ice cream and black currant liqueur) and creme brûlée. Are you dying to try this restaurant yet?
Fogo de Chao left us wanting to go back the next day. It is the perfect spot, especially around the holidays, for big party dining and it will satisfy all diets. There are multiple locations across the United States, as well as locations in Brazil and Puerto Rico. Just make sure you come with an empty stomach and a lot of time so you can pace yourself with all of the food. You will leave full, but dreaming about having more!
