FoodLab, located in West Hollywood, is the perfect place to catch up with a friend over a meal. In a city full of cafes known for their sandwiches and salads, FoodLab stands out from the rest by offering an incredibly extensive menu, full of interesting sandwich and salad combinations. Although it may not seem like it at first glance, the cafe is very NOBREAD friendly, and one meal has me wanting to go back for more!…
Initially I was in no rush to try FoodLab, as the cafe’s organic gourmet sandwiches was the reason why people far and wide flocked to this hotspot. That was, however, until I learned FoodLab offered gluten free bread. All sandwiches could be made with the gluten free bread, except for the fried chicken, wienerschnitzel, Cuban, and steak sandwiches. If you’re in the mood for a salad, which is what I was craving when I went to the cafe, then I encourage you to go there hungry! The salads were huge! This was a theme I was finding amongst LA restaurants; portions in LA were much bigger than portions in NYC! I ordered the roasted veggie salad with grilled zucchini, squash, asparagus, tomato, and eggplant, and I added avocado… because avocado makes everything taste better. The salad was massive and incredibly delicious! My friend ordered the grilled chicken cobb salad and added figs; her salad was massive, too, and we both left satisfied and full. For my next visit I am eyeing the crispy prosciutto and fig salad and the vegan salad with artichoke, edamame, tomatoes, green beans, hearts of palm and more.
Grab a seat outdoors right on Santa Monica Ave, or in the back courtyard. Both areas are adorable. Delicious food, cool scene, and great portions; it’s no wonder why FoodLab has received so much attention. Definitely worth checking it out!
