Four Café, located on Fairfax, is my new favorite discovery. Located on Fairfax, the lunch crowd consists of young professionals who know where to find the best salads and sandwiches in the area. Four focuses on serving healthy meals that you can take-out, or eat in the sleek and bright, indoor or outdoor, seating areas.
Four Cafe’s menu is perfect for the NOBREAD crowd because essentially everything is gluten-free, excluding only a couple of exceptions. Although a GF menu is not available, staff will be happy to point out the few menu items that include gluten. In my opinion, salads are what Four does best. I am not exaggerating when I describe the “Seasonal Living Salad” as beautiful. With kale, grated root vegetables, avocado, and sunflower seeds, it is essentially a giant bowl of color tossed in a flavorful dressing. Not to mention that a full-size salad order is large enough to feed you for an entire day. You can even customize any salad by choosing the option of adding tofu, chicken, steak, or salmon. Four also has an impressive sandwich selection, all of which can be made GF by requesting gluten-free bread. I would go for the classic house-made, lentil and black bean, veggie burger. Make sure not to skip on Four Café’s dessert! They have a great selection of gluten-free goodies; think flourless chocolate hazelnut cake and peanut butter brownies.
Four Café’s lunch crowd was impressive, and for valid reason. The food is healthy, flavorful, and served in huge portions that will leave you feeling satisfied.
