To everyone reading this who loves Gjelina… which is likely all of you… you’re going to enjoy this post.Gjusta, also located in Venice, is a bakery/cafe brought to this lovely city by the owners of Gjelina. Serving sandwiches, pastries, classic deli fare and more, Gjusta is a casual eatery and the perfect place to grab a quick bite. There aren’t any tables, but a counter or two if you want to enjoy your food/coffee at the shop, which I say is the way to go…
Sandwiches and pastries are a large part of the Gjusta menu, so the cafe may seem gluten-unfriendly at first. Thankfully this isn’t the case. Several of the pastries are gluten free including a buckwheat & banana loaf, chocolate & avocado mousse, coconut & lemon panna cotta, and a few smoothies/shakes. Also, although there is no GF bread, the restaurant is happy to make any of the sandwiches for you no bread. For breakfast, the frittatas are popular GF orders, but the quiches are not GF. The baked eggs, beans, greens & fried eggs platter, and smoked fish & egg plate, are all gluten free, as well. I recently went for lunch and loved all the veggie options. Mushroom caps, cauliflower with fried capers, kale salad, garden salad, beans and more are all gluten free and truly delicious.
The staff is super friendly and Gjusta is the ultimate neighborhood spot; it seemed as though everyone in the cafe knew each other! With plenty more gluten free options I want to try, I will definitely go back to Gjusta. Quality food when you’re on the go; I’m in!
