Grey Lady, located on the Lower East Side, is one of the most popular bars in New York City. Equipped with an awesome cocktail menu, great scene, and fun music, this hotspot was destined to be successful from the start. I’ve been to GL on manyyyyy occasions, but it wasn’t until this past week that I decided it was time I tried out their food. The verdict? Grey Lady is more than just a fun, “go-to” bar, it is a solid restaurant and the food deserves more attention! …
I’ve long heard about the unreal lobster roll, french fries, and oysters at Grey Lady, but because rolls don’t fit in with my nobread life, french fries are often subject to cross contamination, and oysters aren’t my favorite, I have yet to go to Grey Lady for a meal. Well, after my great experience at the restaurant last week, I’m mad at myself for holding out this long! The famous lobster roll can be ordered nobread and interestingly enough, this lobster roll is dairy free, too! If you want to play it totally safe, GL also offers a grilled lobster that is served with drawn butter (on the side) and jacket fries. The best part about Grey Lady is how conscious the team is of gluten allergies and how far they go to cater to people with food sensitivities and dietary restrictions. French fries are one of my favorite foods and I am happy to announce that the GL kitchen has 3 fryers, and the french fries are kept separate from all other fried foods containing gluten. Lastly, although I am not a huge oyster fan, you can’t come to Grey Lady and not order any! Not only does the GL menu feature oysters from several locations, but Grey Lady Petites have officially been added to the menu. Yes, they have their own oysters that are sourced from Mooks Oyster Farm, Damarisscota, ME.

Other nobread approved orders you have to try?? The bacon wrapped scallops, steamers, and burger nobread. Im dying to go back and try the brunch, too. The lobster scramble, baked eggs, and potato skillet are calling my name! Thank you Grey Lady for making summer last year-round, for giving me something to do every Thursday night, and for creating a delicious, nobread friendly menu! If you haven’t tried the food at Grey Lady yet, hurry down there… now! One bite of the bacon wrapped scallops and you’ll be happy you listened to me.
