Upon entering Hampton Chutney Co. for the first time, I saw diners eating MASSIVE dosas, and couldn’t help but think that I’d definitely be saving part of my sandwich for lunch the next day. Well, I was wrong. After one bite into the warm, flaky (breakfast!) dosa, having leftovers wasn’t an option. The dosa, similar to a crepe and a sandwich, is so good– it’s impossible not to have every last bite!…
After that first visit, and many more since then, I have determined that the dosas and uttapams are deceptively light despite their massive sizes, making them the perfect indulgence. According to Hampton Chutney Co., there are only 189 calories in the scoop of batter that is used to make each dosa. Add in some veggies and protein and you have yourself a healthy meal that feels like comfort food! Plus, all dosas and uttapams are made with gluten free batter composed of rice and lentil flour, meaning there are a ton of choices for the NOBREAD crowd. Thanks to the wide variety and ease of ordering gluten free, Hampton Chutney Co. is the perfect place for lunch with coworkers or a group of friends; it’s so nice not having to make any special requests! Plus, there are a wide variety of fillings, so everyone will be able to find a variety that suits them. My go-to dosa is the breakfast dosa with eggs, spinach, roast tomato, and avocado; it is the perfect dosa for both breakfast and lunch! If you are looking for something more hearty, I recommend the grilled chicken dosas!
With two locations in Manhattan and one in the Hamptons, as well as the option for delivery, there is no excuse to not try one of Hampton Chutney Co.’s amazing dosas, and of course, their namesake chutneys. Writing this now has me craving a breakfast dosa and the cilantro chutney! But really, you can’t go wrong with any of the fillings or chutneys – they are all fresh and delicious!
