Santa Monica is in need of cool restaurants with a great vibe, and the ambiance at Herringbone is one of the best in the area. High ceilings and long, open windows allow for great natural light and with a huge bar complete with every cocktail imaginable, it’s hard not to love the place. The decor is stunning… even the bathrooms blew me away… and one bite of the food had me in love!
If you’re a seafood lover, Herringbone is for you! To start, you must order the oysters. Even if you don’t love oysters, order them! My friends and I ordered 6 oysters and a shrimp cocktail, which were placed on ice with the oysters, and it was totally delicious. The best part about Herringbone is that much of the menu is gluten-free, and if it isn’t GF already, it can be made GF upon request. We ordered the kale salad with salmon, truffle fries (cross contamination risk but SO worth it), and the cauliflower with golden raisins and no romesco sauce. Everything was amazing! Although there is no gluten-free bread offered on the menu, all sandwiches can be made gluten-free when you ask for NOBREAD except for the crab cake sandwich, as the crab cake itself contains gluten. The salmon with no fregola and the branzino are calling my name for next time!
I went to Herringbone for lunch, and now I can’t wait to go back for dinner. The menu expands to offer even more, tasty options, and I hear the scene is great, too. Thank you, Herringbone, for having us! I’m already craving those truffle fries 🙂
