Jennifer Esposito, of Jennifer’s Way Bakery, is an actress/model turned baker/Celiac crusader. After she was diagnosed with celiac disease at 35, she realized that gluten was the reason for her life long health battles, and she started on a journey to create GOOD gluten free food, and change the way people perceive “gluten free.” Jennifer lives by the philosophy that “food should be enjoyed not feared,” and I completely share this sentiment…
I was scared to eat for far too long, so there is nothing I enjoy more than seeing a restaurant, specifically a bakery, go out of their way to create a completely gluten free dining establishment. Everything at Jennifer’s Way Bakery is clean and most importantly, SAFE. Not only is the facility completely gluten free, but it is also dairy, nut, soy, refined sugar free, and ingredients used are non-GMO. The bakery serves everything from bagels to bread and doughnuts to pretzel sticks. I went to the bakery this past week and ordered an assortment of goodies. The chocolate chip cookies are a must try, and I absolutely loved the chocolate cupcake. While I was in the bakery, multiple people came in asking for a gluten free bagel, so I’ll have to give this breakfast classic a shot on my next visit. For everyone with an egg allergy or sensitivity, the bagel is also egg free.
Not only does Jennifer’s Way sell baked goods, but they sell apparel, GF flour, bags, and more! The “gluten can kiss my cupcake” T-shirt has my name all over it. Jennifer Esposito is also the author of an incredible book that chronicles her journey with celiac disease, and I highly recommend picking up a copy while your at the store. Thank you, Jennifer, for spreading awareness of gluten free, and providing New York City with an incredible, allergy-friendly bakery!
