Introducing Juicy Spot Cafe! This hole-in-the-wall shop in LES offers a wide array of Insta-worthy acai bowls (you can even add edible flowers!) and Thai-style rolled ice cream, which is as fun to watch them make as it is to eat…
To start, we tried a pitaya acai bowl, which had a gorgeous bright pink color, and the nutty acai bowl, which included blended greens. Unfortunately, the granola isn’t gluten-free, so the bowls will all need that to be removed in order to be GF (but you can add nut butter and coconut shavings on top in place of it!!!) The bowls came served in coconuts, making us feel like we were on an exotic beach instead of in the middle of the city! And of course, we had to try the rolled ice cream. Fun fact – Juicy Spot actually came up with the rolled ice cream concept before 10Below, another NYC spot known for making this treat. Unfortunately, not all of the ice cream creations are gluten-free due to ingredients like cookies, but you can make your own ice cream rolls with a wide array of safe toppings, including fruit, chocolate shavings, Nutella and whipped cream. The ice cream is all frozen and rolled on one cold tray, which is washed down in between ice cream orders – so they do their best to avoid cross contamination. If you’re highly sensitive to gluten, you may want to avoid the ice cream rolls for this reason. Oh, and if you need a real meal to go along with your dessert, Juicy has an array of salad options, as well!
As the summer temps rise, Juicy Spot Cafe is a great spot to duck into to cool down. Whether you want a healthy, tropical snack or a frozen treat, Juicy Spot has you covered. With a plethora of gluten-free options to include in your roll or bowl, you can come time and time and again and never get bored!
