Kabuki is a sushi restaurant located in the Hollywood and Westchester areas of Los Angeles. The atmosphere is nothing to write home about, however, Kabuki is definitely worth the visit if you are craving sushi but don’t want to pay the big price tag. Kabuki offers a gluten free menu, which is rare in the sushi world, but this attribute is amazing and makes Japanese dining SO much easier for the NOBREAD crowd…
Kabuki’s menu is INCREDIBLY long, therefore, the small gluten free menu looks pretty meek. However, don’t fear… when it comes to sushi, there is quite a selection. Kabuki offers every type of fish- Spanish mackerel, fatty tuna, octopus (and everything in between)- as a roll or sashimi. Vegetarians will love the Veggie Rainbow Roll, which mimics a traditional “Rainbow Roll” but uses vegetables and tofu to replace the fish. I also recommend the salmon roll- it’s gluten free and one of my go-to orders. A highlight for me is the gluten free soy sauce, which you still don’t see too often! Those who do not enjoy sushi will be pleasantly surprised at the unique options that Kabuki provides, such as oysters. The kale salad with roasted garlic, almonds, and sautéed onions and bean sprouts is a unexpected non-sushi option, but delicious! Also, if you want cheap sake, Kabuki is your place. The restaurant keeps the sake flowing, and it won’t kill your wallet!
Kabuki may not be your 5-star, trendy LA sushi hotspot, but it’s the perfect place for the gluten free to go to satisfy a sushi craving. Kabuki makes it easy to avoid gluten, and at crazy low prices (think $5 a roll), you will be very content with your sushi experience!
