Le Petit Paris is a beautiful addition to the DTLA scene. With lush decorations and exquisite décor, all it takes is one step inside the historic building to feel like you’re transported to a bistro in Paris. While French restaurants are notorious for their gluten-filled pastries and entrees, I dined at Le Petit Paris recently for brunch and was surprised with how willing and able the restaurant was to accommodate to my dietary restrictions…
To start off my meal, I ordered a mimosa – because what even is brunch without one – and Le Petit Paris’s stunning Nicoise Salad. In terms of ingredients, this was on another level, but the presentation of this dish was out of the park. The lettuce, olives, anchovies, soft boiled eggs and pan-seared tuna came together for a vibrant and visually stunning appetizer.
Next came the Filet Mignon Tartare with crispy Pommes Frites. This was the dish that really made me feel like I was in Paris. The tartare was extremely flavorful, and it was obvious the quality of the meat was very high. While I’ve never met a French fry I didn’t like, I do have to say that Le Petit Paris’s fries were pretty spectacular. I greatly enjoyed eating the fries and tartare together so much that I forgot this dish is usually served with bread. I also ordered the Omelette Parisienne, which was made with ham and cheese and served with a side of crispy potatoes and a delightful side salad.
The dessert course is really what knocked my meal out of the park. First, I indulged in a large format macaron that had fresh raspberries, raspberry jam, and cream. This was another item that was visually stunning with a flavor to match. While many of Le Petit Paris’ pastries do have gluten, you are safe with any of their macarons! I also got the Pineapple Carpaccio, which was genius. This dish consisted of very thinly sliced pineapple surrounded by more fresh raspberries, tiny meringues, and coconut sorbet.
If you are gluten-free but still a fan of French food, make sure to check out Le Petit Paris, where I’m sure your cravings will be met. While I went for brunch, I definitely plan on checking out their gluten-free options for dinner sometime soon!
