Lemonade is a popular lunch spot that has been quickly expanding across California and beyond. The café serves a variety of pre-made food, featuring a hot and cold section with plenty of variety. All the food is labeled for common allergens and the staff is well versed about the ingredients in each of the dishes…
Since Lemonade is counter-service, I was able to view a sampling of the offerings and taste their seasonal items. The most popular cold items on the menu are the avocado-tomato salad with pine nuts, roasted broccoli with ricotta, tuna poke, and a curried cauliflower. Thankfully all of these items are gluten-free and you are able to mix and match. From the warm section, the slow-cooked chicken with olives, and various meats and stews are the most popular. Everything I tried was fresh, unique in flavoring and ingredients, and gluten-free without any substitutions. There is cross contamination at Lemonade since all of the foods are made in a common kitchen, but each dish is prepared with care to not cross-contaminate with any other allergens. Don’t forget dessert and Lemonades! All the beautifully colored macaroons are gluten-free with a delicious frosting inside. Since the place is named Lemonade, you should definitely try one of their season varieties. I enjoyed a watermelon flavor that hit the spot.
You should definitely stop at Lemonade if you can find one close by. There are now a few in San Francisco, with two more opening in the next year.
