Well it’s official, I found SoHo’s cutest cafe. Maman NYC opened in 2014, and has been a popular eatery amongst those in Downtown NYC ever since. Yes, the bakery is known for it’s delicious, you guessed it, baked goods, but it is also known for its adorable ambiance and friendly, inviting atmosphere. The menu is small, and for those with a gluten allergy, the menu will become even smaller, but the gluten-free options are great and the cafe is just too cute to resist!…
Maman is best for breakfast, brunch, and lunch, and it is the perfect place to grab a meal and catch up with a friend, or sip on coffee while finishing up some work. On the menu, essentially just the salads are fair-game. Yes, this may sound boring, but the salads are unique, healthy, and tasty, so you won’t miss the gluten-filled options at all! You have the option of enjoying just one salad, or creating combo plates of two or three salads. If you go for the three-salad combo, which I obviously did, the large portions will have you full for hours. My favorite salads were the zucchini noodles with black olives, basil, plum & a kale and basil pesto, baby arugula salad with roasted asparagus, apple, roasted yellow squash, fennel, red quinoa, butternut seeds & a balsamic glaze, and the kale salad with roasted peppers, goat cheese, almonds, and roasted corn. Round out your meal with a side of fruit and an iced-coffee, and you’re all set!
Maman is crazy at lunch time between the people coming in and out to pick up lunch on the go, and the people setting up shop in the back of the cafe to enjoy a meal with friends. And although it is a bit disheartening to see the entire cafe order a large chocolate chip cookie with their meal, one meal and session at Maman will have you back in no time!
