Mekong Kitchen is a Vietnamese soul-food spot, offering a fresh take on traditional Vietnamese cuisine. Tons of options on the menu, from Pho to spring rolls, can be made gluten-free, and the options are the perfect comfort food on chilly days in San Francisco, or to help cure that nasty Saturday morning hangover. Not to mention, all pho is free of MSG. The location is casual yet trendy, and the food is served quickly and instantly fulfills cravings for comfort food. Luckily for NOBREADers, the staff and owners of the restaurant are extremely knowledgeable about gluten-free diets and the ways of accommodating. The menu is clearly labeled and it is important to note that all the broths and gluten-free sauces are made without cross contamination!…
To order, I would recommend the Pho, which is prepared with an ever-so-trendy bone broth. This soup comes either with Chicken, Pork, or Beef and includes GF rice noodles and additional herbs, lime and goodies to add on top. Another great option is the highly publicized spixy oxtail (I was told it was the best cure for the common cold or hangover). I also got a side of crispy roasted Brussels sprouts that were seriously delicious and highly recommended. Lastly, I ordered the fresh spring rolls. It’s important to note that on the menu they are not labeled gluten-free, but if you tell the staff you want to switch the sauce for the gluten-free sauce, they are more than happy to accommodate you.
