Summer is here, but skip the sleep-away camp this year and head to MessHall Kitchen. Located in the heart of Los Feliz, MessHall is a rustic restaurant with delicious, camp-inspired fare. A huge step up from the Sloppy Joes of mess halls of your past, this restaurant exudes the same intimate vibe you’d find sitting around the campfire singing “Kumbaya.” …
I went to MessHall for dinner this week and was impressed with how accommodating the restaurant was for gluten-free patrons. Any of their burgers or sandwiches could be ordered with no bread or with a lettuce wrap, and they had a separate fryer for their French fries. To start, we ordered the Burrata Melee– a delicious tower of taco shells filled with burrata and arugula – yum! For entrees, my table tried both the Braised Short Rib and the Baby Back Ribs which were both so tender and delicious (and the mashed potatoes on the plate were some of the best I’d ever had). However, our favorite dish by far was the Roasted Brussels – those veggies were cooked to perfection and had a spicy kick! The Potato Gruyere Gratin also sounded mouthwatering, so I’ll have to try that next time. We ended the meal on a sweet note and ordered the Bananas Cream Jar Pie (without the wafer) – it was incredible. Don’t miss out on their delicious cocktails or weekly specials!
The brunch menu also looks amazing and I can’t wait to go back and try it- I hear their omelettes are delicious! MessHall Kitchen really has it all – a fun theme, a great ambiance, a central location, wonderful service, and, most importantly, drool-worthy food.
