Ask anyone in the Los Angeles area where you should go to grab dinner or drinks on a weekend night, or where you should go to watch the sunset, and they’ll say Nobu Malibu. Located right on the Pacific Coast Highway, Nobu Malibu is the neighborhood’s most popular and chicest restaurant. Delicious drinks, awesome food, cool scene, and a trendy ambiance all set up a perfect night, and an evening at the restaurant will have you wanting to go back in no time…
For the gluten free person, edamame and shishito peppers are available and perfect appetizers to split with friends. When I went to the restaurant, I started with the new style sashimi— you have the option of whitefish or salmon sashimi– and both are gluten free when you ask for gluten free tamari soy sauce! I went with the salmon and thought the fish was incredible! I’m not one for raw fish, but with sashimi that flavorful, any texture issue I had wasn’t an issue! Nobu is known for their sashimi and sushi, and the fish ABSOLUTELY lives up to its hype! Best of all, the rice at Nobu is gluten free, so the majority of sushi/sashimi dishes are gluten free when you ask for the GF soy sauce! For my main entree, I was thrilled to learn the famous miso cod is gluten free (just ask for no side of eggplant tempura). I ultimately went with the Chilean sea bass and it was awesome! For the vegans out there, the artichoke salad is NOBREAD approved and a great option.
Nobu Malibu is an absolute experience, and perfect for all people and all occasions. If you’re visiting the LA area, Nobu Malibu is a MUST, and if you’re a Malibu local, I envy how lucky you are to have this restaurant at your fingertips. There is a lot of hype surrounding Nobu, and I’m happy to report that the restaurant surpassed my high expectations!
