Just steps off of the Bleeker St stop on the 6, B, D, F subway line sits NoHo Star… a casual American restaurant with one of the best locations in NYC. NoHo Star is a ten minute walk from the West Village, Union Square, Lower East Side, and Meatpacking District AND has a large outdoor seating area alongside Lafayette Street; they were off to a good start before I even went! Unfortunately, there is no gluten free menu here… just a Chinese menu? Yes, NoHo Star is American dining with quite the eclectic mix of foods…
The best part about the menu of NoHo Star is that there is little discrepancy between the brunch, lunch, and dinner menus. Omelettes and sandwiches are served at dinner, and a full menu of entrees is served at brunch and lunch. NoHo Star serves an extensive list of large salads throughout the day, too. My favorite nobread orders: chopped 14 ingredient salad, seasonal salad with butter lettuce, tomatoes, and avocado, kale salad, boneless half chicken, poached arctic char, grilled market vegetables, any of the burgers nobread, and the grilled steak salad with avocado. The BEST part about NoHo Star is the ability to order omelettes for dinner- I don’t know why restaurants don’t do this more often! The golden green (spinach and cheese) and the green garden (spinach and peas) are both must-haves at any time of day. Lastly, you can create your own entree out of their list of sides; another favorite thing of mine to do.
If you are looking for convenience, good food, and menu optionality, I recommend coming here. There is no cross contamination, the rice used in the Chinese dishes is nobread approved, and with a wide range of options, NoHo Star is very gluten friendly.
