Oceana is a Midtown restaurant with a focus on- you guessed it- seafood. Their menu is decadent and original, and the dishes use interesting spices and flavors. The restaurant is very popular for their seafood classics and a lobster or shrimp cocktail is seen on just about every table. Oceana has tons of options for the NOBREAD crowd, too, and I love how items on Oceana’s menu that are not GF can be modified to be gluten free! As always, be sure to tell your server of any allergies or dietary restrictions when you order; the staff will happily guide you through what you can and cannot have…
I highly recommend the black sea bass crudo with roasted red peppers, cara cara orange, smoked paprika vinaigrette, and basil, and you definitely have to order the colossal shrimp cocktail and oysters. When dining at one of NYC’s best seafood restaurants, you have to go all out on the seafood options! I also tried the general tsao’s lobster, one of Oceana’s most popular dishes. It was amazing; the lobster is covered in a spicy sweet and sour sauce and served with forbidden rice. Our table also ordered the shrimp and oyster paella, with chorizo, clams, oysters, and saffron. It was not too spicy but packed with flavor, the perfect dish to share among a huge crowd. For dessert, the amazing pistachio semifreddo is gluten free, and I LOVED seeing that the restaurant offered a GF dessert!
I’ll definitely be back to order the lobster stuffed with crabmeat; I’m disappointed that my table didn’t order it on my last visit! I’ve also been dying to try the roasted brussels sprouts with sopressata and plum compote. You know how much I love my sprouts. Oceana is delicious, and I am adding it to my list of Midtown seafood hotspots that are perfect for a NOBREAD meal!
