The cutest outdoor patio, gluten free pasta, and an adorable and welcoming ambiance sum up this quintessential West Village restaurant. My friends have raved about Palma for some time now, describing it as the perfect date spot or location to host your next celebratory dinner. This weekend, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to check out the restaurant, and when I saw the menu in advance of my meal, I was even more excited to go. The best part about Palma is that the majority of the menu is nobread approved! A handmade gluten free ravioli served in a basil pesto sauce is featured on the menu, and all of the other delicious sounding pastas can be prepared with a gluten free pasta that the restaurant keeps on-site. I went to Palma for brunch this weekend and had a wonderful dining experience. I ordered the prosciutto omelette and it was delicious, and I am eyeing the spinach frittata and steak & eggs for my next brunch visit. The roasted potatoes are incredibly fresh and natural tasting, and sprinkled with just the right amount of rosemary. Also, the fried baby artichoke hearts are absolutely delicious. They are served with parmesan, so if you are nodairy be sure to ask for these nocheese. Anything fried at Palma is subject to cross contamination, so if you are sensitive, you will unfortunately have to sit this dish out. Other nobread approved orders I will absolutely be back to try: the jumbo shrimp sauteed in a white wine sauce, the insalata catalana with half maine lobster, all of the gluten free pastas, the sauteed cauliflower with toasted pine nuts, caramelized onion and currants (NOBREADCRUMBS), the branzino, and grilled lamb chops.
Cute, delicious, and homey, I highly recommend Palma. The management is very friendly, too! They take pride in their food and ensure you are having a wonderful dining experience throughout your meal. And you have to love a restaurant team who understands gluten allergies and caters to all diners!
