Real Food Daily, with locations throughout Los Angeles, is warm and inviting and nails it when it comes to vegan comfort food. This is not your typical LA healthy hot spot; RFD makes sure you leave satisfied and nourished, and when it comes down to it, this pleasant, but no-frills, restaurant serves flat-out delicious food…
RFD prides itself on serving only organic, plant-based cuisine, so there is no dairy or animal products used in the food. Everything that is gluten free is clearly marked GF and they also make indications for soy and nut intolerances. It’s really easy to be GF at Real Food Daily as every dish is GF except for the sandwiches. This is no problem, however, because the restaurant offers GF bread! If you’re in the mood for a salad, “The Great Cardini” will not disappoint. This salad is made of kale and romaine greens with yams, avocado, quinoa, chickpeas and a macadamia parmesan… it is delicious. One of RFD’s most popular items is their Supreme Burrito Bowl, featuring cashew cheese, rice and beans, guacamole, and vegan bacon and sour cream. For something a little less adventurous but just as filling, you may want to try a combination of the “Real Food Basics.” This gives you the option of picking 2-5 items and creating your own meal. You can choose from almost 20 options of vegetables, grains, beans and plant proteins. It’s borderline criminal to leave this spot without checking out the dessert menu. We were blown away by the gluten, nut, soy, and dairy free, coconut-based vanilla ice cream. It tasted just like the real deal, and it was even better when paired with the warm sweet potato bake & pecan crumble.
RFD does healthy comfort food right; I left the restaurant feeling nothing but content. The space is soothing and comfortable and great for your next casual lunch. For a feel-good meal, I definitely recommend trying out one of RFD’s 3 Los Angeles locations… you’ll be happy you did!
