Rito Loco made a name for itself in DC with its food truck and burritos. However, within the last five months, Rito Loco has opened its first brick-and-mortar store, and it has expanded its offerings to include many nobread friendly options!…
Rito Loco, despite being known for its gluten-containing burritos, is EXTREMELY gluten-friendly. The only menu options that contain gluten are the burritos! The grain bowls are not currently considered gluten-free because the quinoa is subject to cross contamination, but this issue is being looked into. Thankfully the rest of the menu options are delicious and gluten-free!
The tacos are a must try, but make sure to specify that you want corn taco shells!! The Rib Taco was by far my favorite and I highly recommend giving it a try. The meat was very tender and cooked to perfection. After staring at the Fish Taco for a few minutes, I was finally talked into trying it by one of the Rito Loco employees who swore it was his favorite. I am glad I was convinced to try it; the taco did not disappoint! The flavor combination of the fish, tomato, and chimichurri was unique and delicious. If you are not a fan of tacos, Rito Loco also offers salads and rice Bowls. The rice bowl of rice, beans, pico, and mojito (chicken) was awesome, and I highly recommend adding some sour cream or guacamole to it for a little extra flair.
Rito Loco is an extremely friendly and welcoming neighborhood hotspot. The team was happy to help me figure out what could be made gluten-free, and they made sure that everything was made to my liking. The Rito Loco team is a family, which definitely comes across in their hospitality and vibe. If you are in the area (or even if you aren’t), Rito Loco is definitely a place to go to satisfy your craving for nobread-friendly Mexican food!
