Rocco’s Tacos is Florida’s number one Mexican hotspot with locations along the Florida coast in Boca Raton, Palm Beach Gardens, West Palm Beach, Ft. Lauderdale, and Orlando. So why feature Rocco’s Tacos on nobreadNYC? It’s official, Rocco’s is coming to NY soon and bringing a bit of Florida to Brooklyn…
My favorite features of Rocco’s Tacos, other than Rocco himself parading along the bar serving tequila shots to eager customers (including my father), are the table side guacamole preparation, Rocco’s chips (corn chips garnished with a blend of powders and spices), and the option to sub flour tortillas with corn tortillas. At first, the menu at Rocco’s looks quite intimidating for the nobread crowd as foods such as quesadillas, enchiladas, and tacos on flour tortillas fill the menu. Not to worry- Rocco’s notes on their menu that hard tacos or corn tortillas are available. The menu at Rocco’s is HUGE, so if you’re not a taco lover there are still plenty of #nobread options. I recommend any of the fajitas notortilla, pollo al carbon, carne con chipotle, taco burger #nobread, mexican street corn, and any of the salads.
The Rocco’s corn chips, as incredible as they are, are subject to cross contamination in the fryers, as are the french fries, so if you are sensitive I suggest you avoid. Rocco’s does what they can to cater to the gluten free crowd. For example, a few taco fillings such as the poblano chiles and mahi mahi are battered and fried; however, they can be done grilled. Rocco’s expects to open its Brooklyn location in the winter of 2014, and I can’t wait! See you soon, Rocco.
