Senza Gluten is a new Italian restaurant located right in the heart of Greenwich Village featuring a menu that is 100% gluten free! This week, the NOBREAD team had the pleasure of meeting with head chef, Chef Jemiko L. Solo, and learning about why and how he caters to the NOBREAD community. Chef Jemiko was inspired by his gluten-free friends to open Senza Gluten, as he wanted to create a restaurant that made dining out super easy for everyone, specifically people with dietary restrictions and those with gluten allergens. Well after our meal this week… or should I say, our feast….we are excited to feature Senza Gluten’s best gluten free dishes and spread the word!…
I HIGHLY recommend you order the gluten free pasta at Senza Gluten. Chef uses GF pasta that is made in Italy! We started with the fettuccine alla bolognese, then indulged in the spaghetti alle vongole and a special pasta with mushroom and prosciutto. They were all so delicious that it was impossible to pick a favorite! The spaghetti alle vongole was dressed in a lovely white wine sauce with garlic and parsley; the sauce was so great we wanted to lick the bowl! For my main course, I ordered the chicken parmesan with a side salad of arugula and parmesan and I absolutely loved it! A second NOBREAD diner ordered the cous cous salad with oven roasted market vegetables and said it was light and refreshing, and that it was a great compliment to all the pasta we ate! To complete our meal we ordered the amazing tiramisu. The dessert was creamy and delicious and an absolute must order. Even though we ate a lot, there were still so many dishes I wanted to try! The lasagna and risotto zafferano were incredibly popular and I will be ordering them when I come in again.
Brunch at Senza Gluten is just as good! To start, we ordered a Pizze Tartufo and then shared the Mozzarella in Carrozza, which is like glorified grilled cheese. Then I ordered the French Toast and loved it! The fruit on the side was so refreshing. Another NOBREAD diner ordered the New York strip steak sandwich and said it was a great way to enjoy steak for brunch. To finish, we sampled the assorted pastries, which are all homemade by Chef. Overall, we were so impressed and want to come back to try some of the other popular dishes, like the pancakes or one of the egg dishes.
Senza Gluten is the perfect restaurant to go to for your next group brunch or dinner or on your next date. The vibe is relaxed and welcoming, and the food will impress both your gluten free and non-gluten free friends. Chef Jemiko hopes to change people’s perspective of gluten free food and dining, and he is off to a good start! The pasta was some of the best gluten free pasta we have ever tasted!! We highly recommend a trip to Senza Gluten, everyone will love it!
