Siena Tavern is one of my favorite restaurants to go to in Chicago with friends. The dishes are perfect for sharing and the cocktails, especially the No. 30, are delicious. Located in River North, Siena Tavern is the ideal place to go for post-work drinks or a late dinner with friends…
In general, it’s difficult being gluten-free and going out to dinner with friends who aren’t. Siena Tavern eliminates this issue with their extensive and delicious gluten-free menu. My friend and I had the pleasure of trying six dishes; shaved brussels sprout salad, ahi tuna crudo, broiled salmon, the whole roasted branzino, a side of the cauliflower, and their homemade sorbet for dessert. I honestly couldn’t tell you what my favorite dish was. Each was delicious in its own way. Our server went ahead and separated the brussels sprout salad, which was extremely nice and helpful. The salmon was so tender that it practically melted in my mouth. The branzino’s presentation was spectacular. I couldn’t help but take photos on my phone and upload them to my personal Instagram. It also had just the right amount of garlic– not overwhelming and pleasantly aromatic. The cauliflower was crispy and charred perfectly. Last but certainly not least, we need to talk about the sorbet. The flavors differ depending on the night so we had the pleasure of trying pineapple, mango and cherry. Did I mention the sorbet was homemade? I could have eaten double the serving they gave us!
I will definitely be coming back to Siena Tavern. I highly recommend going after work for drinks and appetizers or for a later dinner with friends/significant other.
