Slipstream is the perfect place to go to if you’re indecisive like me and want literally everything from a restaurant. From good coffee to craft cocktails and even delicious food, Slipstream has it all. I know I can be so high maintenance, but Slipstream stood up to the task, and even on a Saturday morning to boot…
I started off my experience with a glass of the Brunch Punch and a latte made with Slipstream’s house made almond and cashew milk because brunch is the best time to drink coffee and an alcoholic beverage. The punch was extremely flavorful yet light enough to not upset my hangover (whoops), and was the type of drink that would go well with literally anything. The latte was incredible. The almond cashew milk was on point, and blended perfectly with the house-made brown sugar syrup Slipstream offers to go along with your coffee if you’re a wimp like me and need your cream and sugar in some sort of fashion.
As a sort of appetizer to my meal, I ordered one of Slipstream’s gluten-free granola bars, chock full of pepitas, dried fruit, oats, puffed quinoa, and of course, chocolate chips. This was absolutely delicious and would put any Chewy bar to shame.
For the main course, I ordered the Sweet Potato Chili, the Breakfast Bowl, and the Duck Prosciutto Toast, but served as a salad. This was an interesting smattering of dishes, but they fulfilled all the random cravings I was having at the time. The Duck Prosciutto came with ricotta and fig over a bed of greens since I opted for no bread. The fig jam was extremely flavorful and added a nice sweetness and acidity in contrast to the creamy ricotta. The Sweet Potato Chili was very hearty, chock full of peppers and beans and garnished with some chives.
My favorite dish of the bunch was the Breakfast Bowl: a lovely combination of short grain white rice, greens, preserved lemon, beautifully shaved watermelon radish, and two perfectly poached eggs. I also added ham for the sake of getting some protein in. The rice was cooked to perfection and had that starchy quality that makes rice so delicious. The ham was salty and the yolk porn was plentiful, everything you’d ask for in your first meal of the day.
Although I went to Slipstream for brunch, you can also go for breakfast, lunch, dinner, happy hour, and all-day coffee. Basically you could live here and eat every meal here and be happy. No lie, I might try it.
