Sons and Daughters is a timeless restaurant focusing on Contemporary American Cuisine. Being one of the longest standing Michelin star restaurants in San Francisco, this place has become an institution. Unlike most turn-up-your-nose fancy restaurants, this place is cozy and complete with an open kitchen that is perfect for watching the chefs craft the intricately plated dishes. Sons and Daughters, is an incredible display of the local Bay Area produce and cuisine but also amazingly accommodating towards the gluten-free…
I was told Sons and Daughters was known for their bread…. Feeling disheartened I was thrilled when I was served three different kinds of breads throughout the course of the night, focaccia, a molasses loaf and biscuit that were all gluten-free! If that is not reason to run to the restaurant immediately I don’t know what is. What I liked most about the food was that most of the dishes I was less excited about were the most exciting. For example, a full squid did not seem appetizing but it was my favorite dish of the night! The other clear winner was the Butternut Squash soup that was fantastic- complex and rich without being overbearing. Last but certainly not least, were the dessert courses. I was served a hazelnut tart, lemon sorbet and chocolates galore. It is not often that I get to partake in the dessert courses and I went wild. They even gave us a little salt blend to take home which I will definitely been putting all over my avocados.
I highly recommend checking out this San Francisco restaurant, it will not disappoint.
