If you’ve been to Stone Street in the Financial District, then you’ve been to Stone Street Tavern. Located right in the middle of this strip of stone pavement, Stone Street Tavern is the street’s most popular establishment, but what makes this restaurant stand out from all the other neighboring spots? I’m still not sure, but I went to the restaurant last week for the first time for lunch and I was happy to see that the restaurant is more than just booze and burgers; nobread approved dishes are some of the restaurants most popular orders!…
Yes, the menu is filled with burgers and sandwiches that are not nobread approved, and the delicious looking french fries and sweet potato fries are subject to cross contamination in the fryers, but there are still plenty of nobread approved options you can have. The salads are large and especially filling when you add on a protein topping of salmon, chicken, shrimp, or steak. My favorite salad was the blackened salmon cobb with bibb lettuce, avocado, egg, nocheese, and corn & bean salsa. The baby kale and chicken spinach salads also looked incredible, and I was happy to see that there were so many healthy salad options on the tavern’s menu. Other nobread approved foods include the grilled asparagus, brussels sprouts, and deviled eggs. As I glanced around the restaurant, I only saw burgers and salads, so I say stick with these classics.
The food does the trick and the cocktails are great; throw in a lively ambiance, good music, and a fun crowd and you have yourself a solid time. Next I’ll have to hit the other 30 restaurants on Stone Street and see for myself why this area has so much hype!
