Tre is a creative Italian restaurant located in New York’s trendy Lower East Side. The service is excellent, the wine is superb, and the food is very NOBREAD friendly! I stopped in for a weeknight dinner with girlfriends and had the best time. The romantic lighting and beautiful interior make for an awesome date spot, too! Best of all, the restaurant serves gluten free pasta, and I was beyond excited to give it a try…
One of the specials of the night was a roasted beet soup: bright purple and creamy, with a deep earthy flavor. If it’s on the menu when you go, it is definitely worth ordering! For an extra dose of veggie goodness, I highly recommend the baby kale salad with walnuts, and shaved pecorino. The salad was so cheesy that it felt indulgent. It’s another must order! If you want a couple more plates to share, I’d go for the french fries with spicy mayo or the roasted brussels sprouts with pancetta and shallots. Don’t hog the fries, because you’ll want to save room for pasta. I ordered GF pasta with porcini, cremini, and shiitake mushrooms. The dish had a generous amount of parmigiano and truffle oil– I’m dreaming about this pasta as I type! The gluten free pasta was perfectly cooked with impeccable texture. While it’s subject to cross contamination, the pasta is always boiled in separate water. The best part about Tre is that all of their pasta dishes can be made GF with the exception of the rigatoni, gnocchi, and lasagna. I also ordered the pan seared salmon, which was usually served with homemade gnocchi, but to make it NOBREAD friendly, as a substitution the restaurant added extra cauliflower and it was absolutely delicious!
I can’t wait to go back to Tre to order the GF pasta alla carbonara with pancetta, parmigiano, pecorino, and lots of cream! The desserts at Tre were another reason I’d be dining there again soon. The cappuccino creme-brulee was unreal! Plus, I’ve heard their chocolate mousse is just as good. Make a reservation!
