Wahaca is a Mexican chain serving up street style food across London, and we couldn’t be more excited to share all of their delicious, gluten-free options!…
Wahaca offers a completely separate gluten-free menu where they separate items that are 100% gluten free and those of which have no gluten in their ingredients but have a higher risk of cross contamination – making it easy to pick food based on your own level of gluten intolerance!
We started our Mexican food journey with guacamole and certified gluten-free tortilla chips, which were fresh and perfectly crunchy.
The tacos – I absolutely love tacos especially soft ones, so when a restaurant offers proper corn tortillas (gluten-free), I get pretty excited. My friend and I shared the pulled pork taco; the meat was succulent and tender. Our next choice was the crispy prawn taco with salad, which was my absolute favourite.
For our main, we shared the classic enchiladas. These are served with grilled chicken, tomato salsa roja with a side of beans and rice.
Even though we were both absolutely stuffed we managed to fit in a cricket brownie. I was very hesitant at first as its made from ground insects, but it came highly recommended by our waiter so we couldn’t say no. WOW, it did not disappoint, the brownie was crispy on the outside but warm and gooey in the inside. And it’s gluten-free!
With endless amounts of NOBREAD friendly options on the menu, I will definitely be back to try more of the tacos and have another cricket brownie!
