I rarely venture to Brooklyn, but when I was presented with the opportunity to go to Zizi Limona, I was instantly intrigued. Located on Havemeyer Street in Brooklyn, just over the Williamsburg Bridge, this trendy Mediterranean restaurant boasts a wide variety of dishes, many of which are gluten-free, making this restaurant NOBREAD approved!…
While I visited Zizi during brunch hours, they also offered dinner and lunch menus that included tons of gluten-free options. They even distinguished on their menu which dishes weren’t gluten-free but could be made so by substituting ingredients. While they do not offer gluten-free bread or pasta, this does not inhibit the menu in any way. With such a wide variety of options, all of which sounded delicious, it was difficult to decide upon the Charred Beet & Lentil dish, but I was so glad I did because the beets were cooked perfectly and I was craving them for days after! My friend chose the Shawarma Plate, which we were told is one of their most popular dishes on the brunch menu and consisted of warm chicken and vegetables over a massive plate of hummus. Both dishes were absolutely delicious, flavorful, and filling! I definitely plan on returning to try their other gluten-free options offered on the dinner and lunch menus, specifically their Aunt Trippo’s Falafel or any of the multiple dishes that offer poached eggs over expertly seasoned vegetables.
It seems that Zizi Limona is best known for their brunch, but with such incredible gluten-free options served at all times of the day and with an accommodating wait staff, Zizi is definitely worth checking out!
