Never been to Jam? How to describe it? Beautiful presentation + delicious food. Located right in the heart of Logan Square, you’ll be sure to find the hipster vibes to enjoy your weekend brunch. In addition, Jam had awesome music playing which added to the cool, relaxing atmosphere. Inside the restaurant was just as pleasant as my meal. Since Jam is only open during the day, there’s super bright lighting that shines through their large windows. The feel is simple but moody, with great acrylic chairs and dark concrete tables. In the summer, Jam has a perfect outdoor seating area. The restaurant is along the Logan Square Farmer’s Market set up, so you can even pick up some local veggies afterwards…
I was served numerous dishes; egg whites, omelette, lamb & grits, winter salad and salad niçoise. The egg white dish was the favorite egg dish. The combination of ingredients paired perfectly together. Next up was the omelette. As a heads up, this meal is only gluten-free if you substitute potatoes instead of the corn bread. The lamb & grits is known to be one of Jam’s best dishes on the menu. They take a totally unique spin on the traditional “grits” you’ve seen in the past. This dish is definitely worth a taste if you are into trying an exciting pairing of ingredients. Following these breakfast items, we tasted both the winter salad and salad niçoise. Both were great salads and made with very fresh ingredients. Although there is no gluten-free bread option, Jam is great about substituting potatoes when needed and serving sandwiches with no bread.
One unexpected addition the restaurant that I loved was their large selection of teas. I was able to interact with and smell the loose leafs in order my make my selection. I chose a Pear Green & White tea that was the perfect supplement to my meal. Jam is only open in the morning and afternoon, serving both breakfast and lunch. It’s the perfect spot to bring someone visiting Chicago for the first time, or your regular Sunday brunch buddy. Overall, Jam is one of the best brunch spots in Chicago. Every plate that hit my table had incredible presentation. You can definitely tell the chefs thought out every detail and are very passionate about creating amazing dishes.
