I love eggs. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even late night; eggs are the perfect meal or snack at any time of day. I guess you can even say I’m a bit of an “eggslut.” So when I heard there was a restaurant in Downtown Los Angeles called Eggslut which served all things egg and bacon, it was only a matter of days before I went to the shop to check it out for myself. Located in Grand Central Market, Eggslut is the perfect place to go to when you are looking for a quick, yet filling meal, in a super casual atmosphere…
The menu at Eggslut is small, and at first glance NOTHING is gluten free. However, don’t be alarmed. All egg sandwiches are gluten free when you ask for them no bread! I went with the bacon, egg & cheese served over arugula and LOVED it. Not only do I love eggs, but I also really love bacon, which is great because this dish is essentially a mound of bacon with one sunny side egg on top. The bacon is perfectly crisp and flavorful, and I couldn’t have been happier with my selection. If you are looking for something a bit more filling (or with a bit less bacon), other egg sandwiches feature seared wagyu tri-tip steak and wagyu beef. One dish that caught my eye was the “slut.” The slut is a coddled egg on top of a smooth potato purée, poached in a glass jar and served with a demi baguette. This menu option is unique, and GF if you ask for NOBREAD, but unfortunately the potato puree has dairy, so if you are dairy free like myself you will have to sit this one out.
Cute, fun, quick, and serving all things egg; Eggslut is definitely a place worth checking out! The line can be super long, especially at peak breakfast and brunch times, but it moves quick and is worth the wait! For those of you who love eggs, enjoy this new egg hotspot, and for those of you who don’t love eggs, Eggslut will change that for you. I will absolutely be back in again soon!
