The most popular restaurant to arrive in Venice in 2017 was without a doubt Great White Venice. With a prime location on Pacific Blvd, just feet from the classic Venice sign and the Venice Boardwalk, this casual cafe has lines out the door and around the block at all hours of the day. The fare is Coastal Californian, with a focus on fresh, local, and healthy cuisine, and it is a total must for anyone in the Venice area…
Most notable about the menu, other than how delicious and unique the dishes are, is how gluten-friendly the cuisine is. If you’ve seen GWV on Instagram, or have read about the cafe online, then you’ve totally seen and heard about the famous Blue Smoothie Bowl. Made with banana, pineapple, passionfruit, e3 live blue algae, chia, seasonal fruit, and house made granola, this bowl is gluten-free, vegan, totally photogenic, and delicious! My go-to orders are the Co-Co chop and the Harvest Bowl! And when I’m extra hungry I add a delicious piece of salmon to both. The Harvest Bowl is by far the best menu option I’ve seen in Los Angeles. Filled with charred brussels sprouts, turmeric roasted cauliflower, delicata squash, shaved almonds, pickled onion, avocado, quinoa, and roasted almond vinaigrette, I never want this seasonal bowl to go out of season. The Co Co chop is the ‘ol reliable, and comprised of romaine, avocado, tomato, garbanzo beans, roasted pepper, cucumber, radish, egg, and balsamic herb vinaigrette. The fish tacos are gluten-free and come on corn tortillas, and they can be made on lettuce wraps if you are rocking low-carb. The cafe also has gluten-free bread, which is amazing because who doesn’t love a bomb gluten-free toast.
Great White is known for their coffee and lattes, and I’m kind of obsessed with their Tumeric Almond Milk latte. Grab a seat at one of the outdoor tables out front and watch the scene, or enjoy the casual yet chic ambiance inside. No matter where you choose, you are guaranteed to have an amazing dining experience!
