So here's what we think...

OLE! There’s a new Mexican restaurant in town that will make you want to throw a fiesta. Their signage boasted the statement “Best Tacos in OC” and my sister and I, taco-eating experts, were called in to test the validity of this statement. The results are in: not only are they the best tacos in the OC, they are the best tacos we have ever eaten! …

Located in the rapidly developing packing district neighborhood of Anaheim, is Pour Vida Latin Flavor. The restaurant has only been open for a couple of months, but is quickly making its presence known. Chef Jimmy personally greeted every customer entering Pour Vida Latin Flavor, excited to tell them all about his creations. He proudly told us their history and went over the menu. His passion for his food was clear – he told us how he spent three and a half months developing his secret tortilla recipe! Well, this place won’t be a secret for long. The word is out about the best tacos in town. So here’s the scoop. We started off with fresh-pressed juices – I got a Hibiscus Lemonade and my sister got Chef Jimmy’s secret juice blend. I’d tell you what’s in it but I can’t – it’s a secret. Next, the salads: okay, so I’m not usually one to rave about a salad…but the Kale & Endive Salad blew me away!! Even after my other dishes arrived at the table I came back for more – the true test of a dish. We tried two tacos – one from the sea (spicy ahi tuna) and one from the garden (heirloom cauliflower) and they both were phenomenal. The fish taco was their take on a sushi taco – raw fish and an avocado spread that was so good. The veggie taco was so delicious that my sister (who used to be vegetarian) said “if all vegetarian food tasted like this, I would still be a vegetarian!” Yup. That good. Practically all of their tacos are gluten free if you ask for a blue corn tortilla. They are very allergy conscious in their kitchen and keep all their ingredients separate! Next we tried their truffle fries which were served with vanilla bean short rib, queso fresco, and a fried egg on top!!! LITERALLY SO AMAZING! ORDER THESE! And don’t forget to end with a Borracho Horchata – yes, that means “Drunk Horchata”…’nuff said. They also have brunch on the weekends with omelette tacos! Got to come back to try that ASAP.

Best Mexican meal…scratch that…best meal PERIOD I have had in a long time. I will be back soon for more, Pour Vida Latin Flavor!
