Taste of TriBeCa is a one-of-a-kind outdoor culinary festival in New York City sponsored by Citi, Bayer Public Relations, Brown Harris Stevens, City Winery, Downtown Express, Douglas Elliman, and Flywheel, and features signature dishes from renowned TriBeCa chefs. The Festival takes place on Duane Street and makes for an afternoon of family fun and delicious food; and it’s for charity… what could be better! Buying a Taste of TriBeCa ticket helps raise money for PS 150 and PS 234’s arts and enrichment programs. With nearly all of downtown’s critically acclaimed restaurants participating, Taste of TriBeCa brings together top talent from some of the most sought after destinations.
I went to Taste of TriBeCa this year and absolutely loved it. For a $45 advance ticket or $50 at the door, you have access to TriBeCa’s hottest restaurants. Each chef features one dish, and lucky for me, many of the featured dishes were gluten free! With my TofT purchase I was given 6 meal tickets and was able to try food at 6 booths. Although you are given 6 tickets, I think I tasted from at least 10-15 booths! Chefs and managers are excited for you to taste their food and eager to talk about their dishes and specialties offered at their restaurants. So which dishes were my favorite?? My gluten free favorites included smoked hickory ribeye from Palm TriBeCa, the shrimp ceviche and guacamole from Sazon, the octopus from Thalassa, the spring vegetables with quinoa from Mulberry & Vine, the deviled eggs from The Butterfly, and the pastrami duck from Tiny’s.
At the end of the event, I left full and with several new restaurant additions to my “Restaurants To Try” list. I need to make it over to TriBeCa more often! And my fingers are crossed that at next year’s Taste event, my favorite restaurants including Locanda Verde, Bubby’s, Sarabeth’s, and Nobu will have a gluten free option for me to ‘taste’!
