Quality Eats is without a doubt the most sought after reservation of 2016. And yes, I said ‘Quality Eats’ not ‘Quality Meats’! QE is Quality Meat’s new little sister in the heart of the West Village serving American and Steakhouse classics, with an adorable ambiance and lively bar scene to match. I’ve wanted to go to the restaurant ever since it opened in late 2015, so I was so excited to have the opportunity to check out their dinner menu this week!…
The best part about Quality Eats is how gluten-friendly the menu is! All steaks on the menu are 100% gluten-free, and all main courses are gluten-free too! The octopus from the main course list is flash fried in a shared fryer, but the Chef assured us that the cross contamination is SO trace that he would encourage a gluten-free family member of his to have it. To start, my friend and I ordered the Lump Crab and Avocado Salad (light and delicious) and the Grilled Nueske’s Bacon served on top of peanut butter and jelly. Yes, peanut butter and jelly. It was amazing! When choosing what to order for our mains, we enlisted the help of our waitress who was INCREDIBLY knowledgable about each cut of meat and menu option. He even customized gluten-containing menu options for me, and made them NOBREAD-approved! We ultimately went with the octopus and skirt steak, and we were incredibly pleased with our choices! The side-order section of the menu was the only area that was a bit tough to be gluten-free. The sautéed greens are gluten-free when you ask for no soy, the chickpea skillet rice is gluten-free when you ask for no potatoes, and the simple spinach and haricot verts are naturally gluten-free! We ordered the chickpea skillet rice because it sounded unique, and we were blown away by this dish! Imagine fried rice meets fried chickpeas— it’s a must order!
Now I know I said that the best part about Quality Eats is its gluten-friendliness, but the true best part is that the restaurant group’s infamous ice cream cakes can be made gluten-free! Just ask for no cake croutons, or for your cake croutons to come on the side for your gluten-eating friends. The birthday ice-cream cake comes with a candle, and theres nothing better than having yourself a little birthday treat when it’s not your birthday! Brunch at Quality Eats is hugely popular too, and I’ll absolutely be back soon to try it out! I give Quality Eats 5 stars— this hotspot will be making noise in the West Village for quite a while!
