Sidecar Doughnuts is a favorite. They have monthly doughnut flavors that vary seasonally and delicious coffee as well. And you’re in luck – they have gluten free treats…
I took my grandmother to Sidecar Doughnuts for breakfast a couple weeks ago and she ordered their gluten free doughnut – that week’s gluten free flavor was raspberry. From the look on her face, she wasn’t expecting much. My grandma has been gluten free for a couple of years and having a major sweet tooth, she is consistently disappointed by gluten free dessert options. One bite into this little raspberry doughnut and I thought my grandma was going to start crying in the shop. She exclaimed it was the “absolute best doughnut she had ever eaten” and she “never thought she would have such a delicious doughnut again after being gluten free!” My grandma was so enthusiastic that passersby probably assumed she was a hired advertiser for the shop! I had to see what the hype was about. Sure enough, their gluten free cake doughnut was every bit as tasty as any doughnut I’ve ever had. Sidecar doesn’t have a separate fryer for their GF doughnuts, so there is a chance of cross contamination, but they offer a new gluten free flavor every week, made with gluten free dough. This month’s gluten free flavors are Butter & Salt, Lemon Pound Cake, Buttermilk Drops, and Huckleberry, and you can check their website to see their new flavors each month. Sidecar fries small batches of funky fresh doughnuts on the hour to ensure they are the most delicious they can be.
Attention gluten free readers: you can have your doughnut… and eat it too!
