Sprinkles, an adorable cupcake shop started in Beverly Hills and introduced to DC’s Georgetown neighborhood, serves over 25 flavors of cupcakes and was an instant hit upon opening in 2011. Equipped with a philosophy that all cupcakes should me made with NO trans fats and only the best ingredients; it’s no surprise Sprinkles has had so much success. Oh, and its location right near the waterfront doesn’t hurt either…
Sprinkles recognizes the importance of creating cupcakes that satisfy consumers of all diets, and has made four variations of their red velvet cupcake. In addition to the red velvet offered on the regular menu, red velvet cupcakes with a G are gluten free, V are vegan, and S are sugar free. Ingredients used for these allergy/ diet friendly cupcakes are kept totally separate from other allergens in the facility, cooked in different ovens, AND prepared on different trays. Sprinkles does, however, caution that because flour, dairy, sugar, peanuts and walnuts are on the premises, people with severe allergies should stay away. The gluten free cupcake at Sprinkles is delicious, and my non gluten-free friends loved it, too!
Well done, Sprinkles. Now we just need a few more nobread approved flavors…
