When I travel, I realize how spoiled I am by the healthy food options in LA and NYC. For instance, MATCHA, which is EVERYWHERE in LA, is a rarity in Nashville! And Whole Foods… there is only one!! It’s 15 minutes outside of Downtown Nashville, too! I don’t say this to hate on Nashville… it actually makes me really excited. The health and wellness scene is just waiting to explode in the city! I feel like it’s going to happen soon, and going to happen FAST.
Anywho, enough of my ranting, here are my favorite Nashville spots!
Frothy Monkey
There are 5 Frothy’s in the Nashville area and I am a FREQUENT customer at the 12 South and Downtown locations. I come here for the golden latte- it consists of golden turmeric milk (I go coconut), honey, and is topped w cinnamon + turmeric root. I get it 1-2x a day; IT IS SO GOOD. You have the option to add espresso, but you know I am ‘nocoffee’ and my pro tip is subbing vanilla in for honey. For brunch I order the California: 2 fried eggs over medium, atop 2 slices of sourdough toast (SUB FOR GF BREAD), with an avocado wedge, sprouts, and house-made salsa on the side. Casual, cute, cozy, DELISH; I am obsessed with Frothy!!!
The owner told me Erewhon is his inspo for this little cafe and that’s all he had to say. This is THE ONLY, I repeat, THE ONLY place in Nashville I have found with housemade nut milk (oat/cashew) and fancy add-ons for lattes and smoothies like spirulina, CBD, adaptogens, and more. It is also the only place I have found some of my favorite brands like Lesser Evil Paleo Puffs and HU Kitchen Chocolate bars. They also have a prepared foods refrigerator which is great for grab and go. E+Rose is PAVING the way for wellness in Nashville and I am HERE. FOR. IT.
Vegan AND nut-free ice cream!! The ice cream is 100% organic coconut milk with organic evaporated cane sugar, pink Himalayan sea salt, organic cane sugar syrup, and organic Indian cluster bean. That’s it! They always have multiple gluten-free flavors, and they have gluten-free sugar cones! I had the chocolate and pumpkin spice and they did NOT disappoint! NOTE: The shop is only open AFTER 6PM M-Th. Fr-Sun it opens at 12!
All it took was for me to see “Avocado Margarita” on the menu and I knew I was SOLD on this vegan hotspot. I was a little nervous- was it going to be a creamy margarita?! Nope! It tastes just like a classic margarita with the perfect hint of avocado. I highly recommend the GF nachos, any of the bowls (you can sub in cauliflower rice), and the raw desserts. Ps, Koko’s is right next door!
Pinewood Social
This is Nashville’s hotspot. Coffee house in the front, office/lunch vibes in the middle, bowling ally in the back, and an outdoor space, too! You can literally come here for every kind of occasion. No matcha here, but the fried broccoli was bomb!! (Cross contamination risk for my Celiac’s) The Chopped Kale and Baby Greens Salad with salmon are perfect, healthy meal options, too.
The donut shop of Nashville has PALEO donuts! NOTE: the donuts are made with gluten-free and paleo ingredients, but it is not a dedicated establishment. The double chocolate was my favorite, but I was BLOWN away by chocolate chip and the vanilla cream situation. The paleo donuts are gluten-free, dairy-free, and refined sugar-free and although flavors are seasonal, paleo options are available year round!
The Thompson Hotel
The most ideal spot to kick off your night. Great drinks, SUNSETS, great vibe, cute guys, and French fries. My kind of spot.
Milk and Honey
Milk and Honey is the quintessential brunch spot of Nashville. On the weekends, put your name down and expect to wait a bit… but that’s okay because there is plenty to do and shops to hit over in The Gulch. Order a matcha latte with almond or oat milk while you wait 🙂 My friends and I were basic AF when we went, but we were also hungover so who wouldn’t want eggs, potatoes, and bacon?!
I’m obsessed with Nashville and plan to go many more times in the coming months! I’ll keep this list updated as I go! xox, #nobread
