Cauliflower Gnocchi Skillet

NOBREAD x BroccYourBody

This one is for my fellow Italian’s who miss a classic casserole and baked ziti! Italian fare is big with my family over the holiday’s, and it always bums me out to have to forego some of my favorite dishes this time of year. Well, forego no more. The brilliant and beautiful Carissa from @BroccYourBody has developed a #glutenfree, #dairyfree Cauliflower Gnocchi Skillet  that will have both YOU and your gluten-eating family salivating over.

What You Will Need:
1 T olive oil
1 bag cauliflower gnocchi
1 lb ground turkey
1 tsp salt & pepper
1 tsp dried oregano
2 1/2 cups red sauce – we used Rao’s Marinara!
1 cup shredded dairy free mozzarella
Basil to garnish

What You Will Do:

Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add in olive oil then frozen cauliflower gnocchi from Trader Joe’s. Sauté for 6-8 minutes until the gnocchi begins to brown. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

Add in ground turkey and break up with a wooden spatula as it browns. Season with salt, pepper and oregano.

Once turkey is cooked, about 6-7 minutes, add the cooked gnocchi and pasta sauce. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.

Top with the cheese and broil until it is melted and slightly browned on top. Top with fresh basil and serve!

Makes 4-6 servings.

My Rooftop!

As you all know, I moved into my new place early this summer. You can read allll about it in my blog post, here! One thing I BRIEFLY mentioned in the post is that I worked with a decorator, Dany, THE Spatial Soulutions. What I failed to go into detail on was how necessary Dany was to the entire moving in/decorating process.

As a Holistic Interior Stylist, Dany works with clients on a plethora of services. I initially hired Dany to help me with the move. I knew if my house wasn’t organized on Day 1 that it would NEVER be organized. Prior to the move she came to the house to get a feel for it and a lay of the land.

Dany taught me two valuable things during our process of working together. One, the Container Store should be my new best friend. Two, if something doesn’t have a home, or if it’s home is full, then I don’t need it! The inner hoarder in me is still getting used to this! I’m in AWE of the organization job Dany did. Bins and containers of every size fill my home in the most beautiful, natural way possible. The cooking oils are on a spinner, vitamins are categorized by bin, pots and pans are placed in a way so they fit with ZERO clutter… and that’s just my kitchen!

I quickly realized I was going to need Dany for a lot more than just the organization; her eye for decor and making my vision (Tulum meets Venice but in West Hollywood) come to life were incredible! After making my interior a total MOOD, I tasked Dany with turning my roof into a mood, too!

Without further ado, here is my roof! By the end of my time at my old apartment, I was so over it and had such a negative relationship with it that I didn’t want to take anything to the new house. The ONE thing that did survive the move, however, was my kitchen table. It’s a rustic picnic table that I got at the flea market when I first moved to LA, and it is the perfect dining table for my roof.

Similar to the interior, the goal for the rooftop was to create an amazing entertaining spice with a chill, Tulum vibe. We strung lights zig-zag across the rooftop which looks like MAGIC at sunset. The siding that separates my roof from neighbors isn’t the prettiest, so we hung macrames from Urban Outfitters on the sides.

I’m a very private person, and was adamant about making a space where neighbors couldn’t see onto my roof. We ordered a light wood room divider off Amazon to shield my space. Dany is the QUEEN of plants. Like the ultimate plant lady, in the best way. For the roof, we picked up two cacti from the plant market in DTLA. It’s the perfect pop of color on the roof, and as I learned with from the interior, plants make the HUGEST difference and are necessary for a vibe. Dany also decorated the roof with candles which are both purposeful and decorative.

Now for the (two) main attractions! THE COUCH. As I mentioned, I entertain OFTEN, and I love having large groups. My couch is the Teagarden Patio Sectional with Cushions from Wayfair. The sectional has two ottoman’s that when attached to the couch make little beds. I wanted as much seating space as possible so we also ordered plush cushions for the ground. Very Tulum, I know. The couch is decorated with fringe pillows from Crate & Barrel and Pottery Barn.

The other main attraction is my chaise lounge set. I ordered the set from Joss & Main. They are solid wood with white cushions and recline/are easy to move around.

Lastly, to complete the roof, I bought an umbrella from Amazon. I keep it down most of the time, but it is perfect for when I want shade during peak sun hours.

I am OBSESSED with my roof. My whole home. DANY, IN FACT. The job she did is absolutely incredible, I honestly don’t know WHAT my interior or roof would look like right now if it wasn’t for her!! I will absolutely be living here for the next few years; my creative energy, life, and just EVERYTHING has improved because I am so happy here!

If you are moving, or want to revamp your current home, ABSOLUTELY contact Dany. You can find her at the links below!! xxo, #nobread

506 Lofts

Welcome to 506 Lofts! The coolest vacation rentals I’ve come across in a while!! Located in Downtown Nashville, it is close to Broadway, but perfectly far enough away, haha! Each room has a different theme and is a total vibe. My room was the record room, with an art mural and deco to match. The one bedroom was super comfortable for my friend and I, but we totally could have had up to 4 of us in there given its size and pull-out couch.

What I love most about staying at a vacation rental versus a hotel is that it truly gives you a chance to make yourself at home. I went grocery shipping immidiately, given I was going to be in town for a week, and the kitchen was super spacious and came with everything I needed. Most importantly about the rental was that I felt safe. You have to log in electronically multiple times before even reaching your room! Also, there is a place (safely locked, too) to store your luggage and other large items so it doesn’t clutter in your room.

Now here is really WHY you should stay here. 506 Lofts gives away a percentage of each night’s stay to local nonprofits who are helping those experiencing homelessness in Nashville. By staying here, you provide a place to stay, food, and basic necessities to those who don’t have. Thank you so much 506 Lofts for having me! I’ll be back very soon!

When I travel, I realize how spoiled I am by the healthy food options in LA and NYC. For instance, MATCHA, which is EVERYWHERE in LA, is a rarity in Nashville! And Whole Foods… there is only one!! It’s 15 minutes outside of Downtown Nashville, too! I don’t say this to hate on Nashville… it actually makes me really excited.  The health and wellness scene is just waiting to explode in the city! I feel like it’s going to happen soon, and going to happen FAST.

Anywho, enough of my ranting, here are my favorite Nashville spots!

Frothy Monkey

There are 5 Frothy’s in the Nashville area and I am a FREQUENT customer at the 12 South and Downtown locations. I come here for the golden latte- it consists of golden turmeric milk (I go coconut), honey, and is topped w cinnamon + turmeric root. I get it 1-2x a day; IT IS SO GOOD. You have the option to add espresso, but you know I am ‘nocoffee’ and my pro tip is subbing vanilla in for honey. For brunch I order the California: 2 fried eggs over medium, atop 2 slices of sourdough toast (SUB FOR GF BREAD), with an avocado wedge, sprouts, and house-made salsa on the side. Casual, cute, cozy, DELISH; I am obsessed with Frothy!!!

E+Rose Wellness Cafe

The owner told me Erewhon is his inspo for this little cafe and that’s all he had to say. This is THE ONLY, I repeat, THE ONLY place in Nashville I have found with housemade nut milk (oat/cashew) and fancy add-ons for lattes and smoothies like spirulina, CBD, adaptogens, and more. It is also the only place I have found some of my favorite brands like Lesser Evil Paleo Puffs and HU Kitchen Chocolate bars. They also have a prepared foods refrigerator which is great for grab and go. E+Rose is PAVING the way for wellness in Nashville and I am HERE. FOR. IT.

KoKo’s Plant Based Ice Cream

Vegan AND nut-free ice cream!! The ice cream is 100% organic coconut milk with organic evaporated cane sugar, pink Himalayan sea salt, organic cane sugar syrup, and organic Indian cluster bean. That’s it! They always have multiple gluten-free flavors, and they have gluten-free sugar cones! I had the chocolate and pumpkin spice and they did NOT disappoint! NOTE: The shop is only open AFTER 6PM M-Th. Fr-Sun it opens at 12!

All it took was for me to see “Avocado Margarita” on the menu and I knew I was SOLD on this vegan hotspot. I was a little nervous- was it going to be a creamy margarita?! Nope! It tastes just like a classic margarita with the perfect hint of avocado. I highly recommend the GF nachos, any of the bowls (you can sub in cauliflower rice), and the raw desserts. Ps, Koko’s is right next door!

Pinewood Social

This is Nashville’s hotspot. Coffee house in the front, office/lunch vibes in the middle, bowling ally in the back, and an outdoor space, too! You can literally come here for every kind of occasion. No matcha here, but the fried broccoli was bomb!! (Cross contamination risk for my Celiac’s) The Chopped Kale and Baby Greens Salad with salmon are perfect, healthy meal options, too.

Five Daughter’s Bakery

The donut shop of Nashville has PALEO donuts! NOTE: the donuts are made with gluten-free and paleo ingredients, but it is not a dedicated establishment. The double chocolate was my favorite, but I was BLOWN away by chocolate chip and the vanilla cream situation. The paleo donuts are gluten-free, dairy-free, and refined sugar-free and although flavors are seasonal, paleo options are available year round!

The Thompson Hotel

The most ideal spot to kick off your night. Great drinks, SUNSETS, great vibe, cute guys, and French fries. My kind of spot.

Milk and Honey

Milk and Honey is the quintessential brunch spot of Nashville. On the weekends, put your name down and expect to wait a bit… but that’s okay because there is plenty to do and shops to hit over in The Gulch. Order a matcha latte with almond or oat milk while you wait 🙂 My friends and I were basic AF when we went, but we were also hungover so who wouldn’t want eggs, potatoes, and bacon?!

I’m obsessed with Nashville and plan to go many more times in the coming months! I’ll keep this list updated as I go! xox, #nobread

Three Tequila Cocktails for Fall

I just turned THIRTY (WOW, I know…) and in reflecting on this year I noticed a few things:

  1. I don’t go out NEARLY as much anymore. You know– maturity.
  2. My cocktail orders when I do go out have drastically changed. Goodbye to the days of ordering tequila soda lime (with muddled cucumber if I was stepping it up a notch) and hello to chic tequila cocktails with different juices and garnishes infused to make mouthwatering masterpieces.
  3. Nights IN with friends, enjoying a home-cooked dinner while sipping tequila cocktails might be my favorite thing in the world.

And because of all this… I’ve become QUITE the bartender! Skinny Margaritas are my favorite drink to order when I’m out, so it was the first cocktail I HAD to master at home. Today I’m sharing my three favorite tequila cocktail recipes, all made with Nosotros Blanco tequila! For those who missed my announcement last month about my exciting new partnership with the brand, Nosotros is a small, LA-based tequila company serving the HIGHEST quality, gluten-free, craft, premium tequila I’ve experienced to date. Linking them here so you can check out more for yourself, and read a fun interview I did with the team!

NOBREAD Cocktail Menu:

Note: For each of the cocktails below, simply add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker with crushed ice to chill, and strain over ice in a cocktail glass and serve!

Skinny Margarita
1.5 oz Nosotros Blanco
Juice of one full lime
Juice of half medium orange
1 tsp light agave nectar (optional)
salt rim (optional)

Paloma a.k.a. the PaNOma
2 oz Nosotros Blanco
7 oz grapefruit soda
Juice from 1/2 Lime
Grapefruit and fruit to garnish
Pinch of Salt

When I think of Fall and the holiday’s (can you believe they are just around the corner already?!) I think of warm blueberry muffins and blueberry pie. Given I like my margaritas year-round, incorporating blueberries into the mix has been the obvious move this Fall. Introducing my Blueberry Lime-arita.

Blueberry Lime-arita
1/4 cup muddled blueberries + more to add to finished dink
1 T freshly squeezed lime juice
1 T agave
2 oz Nosotros Blanco
8 oz club soda

Enjoy! xx
