Introducing BFree Foods! A Dublin, Ireland based company that has recently entered the US market! BFree sells wraps, pitas, rolls, bagels and bread loaves in select stores all around the country. And the best part? All products are free of wheat, dairy, eggs, nuts and soy, making them gluten-free, vegan and free from all major allergens! With so many allergens and main components removed, I’m sure you’re wondering if the products are high-quality, and I’m happy to report that THEY ARE! Additionally, BFree uses high-quality, non-GMO ingredients.

I recently had the opportunity to try ALL BFree products, and I’m kind of obsessed. I’ve been on the hunt for a good gluten-free bagel for years, and BFree’s GF bagels are the best I’ve ever had. The bagels come in multi-seed and plain, and they are soft and taste incredibly fresh. (Other gluten-free bagels I’ve tried in the past have felt a bit dense).

I’ve been having so much fun with the BFree wraps! They come in a Multigrain and a Quinoa and Chia Seed variety, and these wraps are perfect for your lunch, and even better for your quesadillas! Let’s be real, when was the last time you had a gluten-free quesadilla? Top it off with sour cream and guacamole, and you’re set! Oh, and the wraps are only 100 calories each!

Now, to the most important product: THE BREAD. BFree bread comes in brown seeded and white bread. Unlike most gluten-free breads that are twice in calorie and half the size of regular bread, BFree bread slices are large and only 70 calories a slice! My avocado toast game is VERY strong right now, and there is nothing better than feeling satisfied after a meal. BFree also serves brown and white rolls that are perfect for sliders!

BFree’s latest product is their pita bread. The bread is fresh and sturdy, and it doesn’t fall apart when you pack it with your favorite ingredients! I recently made a Greek inspired pita sandwich, and I have a few more recipes up my sleeve I’m eager to test out.

Pro Tip: once you open each package, definitely enjoy the entire package that week, and if you are unable to do so, pop it in the freezer!

Yes, we in the gluten-free community can now enjoy Stoli’s high-quality and smooth taste without any hesitation! You might be thinking… aren’t all vodkas gluten-free? People always ask me if my gluten allergy prevents me from drinking alcohol. The answer? Sometimes! Beer is a no-go, and I’m not sure about you, but my body does not allow me to drink certain distilled spirits. No gluten shouldn’t mean no alcohol! If an alcohol is made from naturally gluten-free ingredients, I’m all in.

Enjoy Life Baking Chocolate

Enjoy Life products are free of the 8 most common allergens (wheat, dairy, peanuts, treenuts, fish, soy, eggs, and shellfish), and when I went gluten-free (and several other food groups-free) 7 years ago, Enjoy Life products were my savior. To this day, my loyalty lies with Enjoy Life and their products, and every year they come out with more and more unique and delicious products that keep me their number one consumer!

Not only is Enjoy Life allergy friendly, but everything they make is absolute gold. Their baking chocolate is the best I’ve ever had (I know, BOLD statement)! In just about every recipe I’ve done that involves chocolate, the chocolate is by no other than Enjoy Life Foods.

The chocolate comes in Mega Chunks, Mini Chips, and Dark Chocolate Morsels. Although they are intended for baking, I often use them for snacking! Recently, I had the opportunity to try the Enjoy Life Brownie Mix, and I figured I’d make my own “food-porn” by melting Enjoy Life Baking Morsels and topping my brownies with the chocolate-y goodness!

What You’ll Need:

1 Box Enjoy Life Brownie Baking Mix
1 Cup Water (the recipe calls for 3/4 cup, but I went with 1 cup)
2 Tbsp Cooking Oil
1 Bag Enjoy Life Baking Chocolate

What You’ll Do: 

Preheat Oven to 350
Empty Baking Mix into a large bowl.
Add Water and oil
Stir until smooth, and pour into a 9×9 or 8×8 baking tray.
Cook for 35-40 minutes, remove from oven, and let cool for 10 minutes

Pour Baking Chocolate into a microwavable bowl, and cook for 1 minute.
Stir it up to melt the morsels. If need be, heat for 30 more seconds until the chocolate is in liquid form!

Cut Brownies into 3×3 squares, and top with chocolate frosting.

Take a bite, and ENJOY!!

For about 15 years, I have started each morning with a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios.  So when I was forced to go gluten-free seven years ago, I was also forced to give up my favorite cereal. That was until this summer. You may have seen the adorable commercials featuring Cheerios engineer, Phil Zietlow, exclaiming Cheerios are now gluten-free, and like me, you may have been surprised or skeptical. Well believe it everyone! Five flavors of Cheerios are now gluten-free!
As the team exclaims on their website, “Gluten-Free matters,” and we AGREE! The Cheerios team has removed stray wheat, rye, and barley from their oats, leaving us with a great-tasting, gluten-free Cheerio! I’m teaming up with Cheerios and General Mills to highlight their new gluten-free offerings, and to help share their story!

So, what brought about this change? Cheerios is a cereal that prides itself on the ability to bring families together. Well, it’s no fun when a family member with a gluten-allergy or intolerance is unable to partake in the family breakfast. When Phil, who worked with Cheerios for over 50 years, learned his daughter-in-law was gluten-intolerant, his eyes were opened to the gluten-free world.  All oats used in Cheerios cereal were naturally gluten-free, but stray grains of gluten were added into Cheerios due to cross contamination in farms. With his team, Phil created a process that separates the gluten and gluten-free grains! And after 5 years of hard work, the team has succeeded in removing all gluten-grains from the cereal.
Cheerios are currently offered in Original, Honey Nut, Multi Grain, Apple Cinnamon, and Frosted flavors, and more fun varieties and flavors are in the works! Is the cereal safe, you ask? YES. The team is always working to keep Cheerios gluten-free by providing additional training to employees at all facilities, adding ingredient-handling protocols, and conducting daily finished product testing.

Gio’s Gluten Free Catering

Birthday parties, meetings, events, get-togethers… what do they all have in common? Food. But not just any kind of food – large trays filled with finger-food like chicken fingers and nachos, or Italian favorites like chicken parmesan and pasta. The theme here? Neither are very gluten-friendly, which tends to make otherwise joyous occasions seem not so joyous.

Gio’s Gluten Free, a catering company based out of New Jersey, is the solution to all of us gluten free folks’ prayers. Gio, son of Gio’s founder, Alison Giardina, was diagnosed with Celiac at age 5. After watching Gio be unable to participate in family events and social functions that involved food, and having to watch his every move due to his severe reaction to even the slightest cross contamination, Alison created GIO‘s to bring delicious, healthy gluten-free foods to all consumers in a safe way. Alison, like myself, realized right away the importance of making gluten-free tasty and delicious, and as such, she and her business partner converted traditional foods into gluten-free varieties, and have now also created some stellar originals that are packed full of flavor and nutrients!

Yes, restaurants and catering companies have gluten-free options, like a simple roasted salmon and a tray of grilled vegetables, but Gio’s Gluten Free is 100% GF. Yes, I said 100%… meaning no cross contamination! Furthermore, their expansive menu of Italian and Greek fare was recently certified gluten-free by the GIG organization and Gio’s is the only dedicated caterer in the area! I’m based out of NYC, where gluten-free options are increasingly common, but I can say with certainty that Gio’s will be catering my parties from here on out!

So what are some of my menu favorites? First, the rice balls! I hadn’t had a rice ball since my gluten-eating days. One bite of Gio’s rice balls and I was reminded of what I’ve been missing out on. Filled with rice, cheese, and tomato sauce, these rice balls are literally incredible.  Gio’s uses imported breadcrumbs that look, taste and feel just like the gluten variety! Next, I tried one of Gio’s most popular dishes, the Chicken Mckenna (sautéed chicken with kale, capers in a white wine and tomato broth, topped with cheese). No wonder why this is a crowd favorite! Each bite was outstanding. Meatballs are a difficult dish to recreate in a gluten-free form, and Gio’s meatballs tasted even better than the original! Served on top of gluten-free penne, this dish is even better! Another gluten-free pasta favorite, the pasta puttanesca filled with tomatoes, olive oil, olives, capers and garlic, was amazing, too! The Gio’s ladies source their pasta from a manufacturer in Italy that offers ~20 different cuts of GF pasta, which are all non-GMO, organic, AND gluten-free. For those looking for something a bit healthier, or a nice vegetable dish to compliment the meal, I recommend the brussels sprouts with bits of sun-dried tomato, and the swiss chard sautéed with chickpeas. Both sides are healthy and necessary supplements to your meal!

When it comes to gluten-free sweets, I’m your girl. I’ve tried just about every brand of GF dessert, and from the best gluten-free chocolate chip cookie to the best gluten-free doughnut, I have a favorite brand for each. Recently, I was introduced to ginnybakes, a nutritious organic, gluten-free, non-gmo line of baked goods. One bite had me sold!

I relate to ginnybakes’ brand and concept in many ways. Their philosophy is to “nourish your mind and body” and create nutritious, yet delicious, gluten-free goodies. I used to say you should avoid eating anything that comes out of a package, but this is one packaged good that is fresh and healthy– I HIGHLY recommend it.

The brand comes in many forms ranging from baking mixes and cookies, to crumbles and bars. I’m a huge fan of their cookies, with chocolate chip oatmeal, chocolate chip, and cranberry pistachio being my favorites. The cookies also come in several other flavors including butter crisp and sweet cinnamon. I’m typically a chocaholic, but the cranberry pistachio is addicting!!  For the calorie counters, the cookies are only 50 calories! And if you’re always on the go, ginnybakes cookies are sold in snack-bags! The ginnyminis are just over 100 calories, and they are the perfect, satiating snack while you’re out and about.

Thanks to Halo Top Creamery, you no longer have to choose between a healthy snack or a treat that will satisfy your sweet tooth! Halo comes in four flavors: Chocolate, Vanilla, Strawberry, and Lemon cake. I was skeptical at first—how could ice cream taste good if it is only 240 calories per pint? With each bite, I could taste the ingredients of authentic Belgian chocolate, pure Madagascar vanilla, and real California strawberries in the respective flavors. My favorite was the Lemon Cake—it was just the perfect amount of zesty freshness and sweet richness!

Since Halo Top doesn’t use artificial softeners and is low in fat and sugar, they recommend that you give the cartons a couple minutes on the counter to let the ice cream soften up a bit before digging in. Both the Vanilla and Chocolate flavors were extremely creamy and rich.

Bagelinos is a gluten free, savory breakfast pastry offering a gluten free take on a modern day bagel. It comes in two forms: original (similar to a cheesy bagel) and bun (similar to cheesy bread).  Bagelinos are made with 100% all natural gluten free tapioca flour and white cheese, and to top it off, they are naturally trans fat and preservative free!

I first tried the original Bagelinos and toasted it for breakfast. Toasting the bagel made the cheese flavor stand out, and I really enjoyed it! If only I had some cream cheese in my refrigerator; it would have gone great with the Bagelinos.

The Bagelinos bun is great for sandwiches and burgers. The Bagelinos team suggests using the bun for pulled pork sandwiches, and I can see why. The bun is a little less cheesy than the original Bagelinos, which makes it a great bun to use for sandwiches when you want a subtle cheesy flavor rather than a powerful one.

Anyone who knows me knows that Enjoy Life Foods is my favorite brand of gluten free snacks. I eat the cereals for breakfast, the cookies with every meal (crunchy chocolate chip is my go-to), and the chocolate bars are my staple go-to post-dinner dessert. With summer just around the corner, we’re all anticipating great weather and can envision ourselves gathering with family and friends for a BBQ, or heading out to the park for a picnic. What better way to enjoy the beautiful sunny weather and laid back vibes than with an ice-cold hard cider in your hand?

I’m sure you’ve heard of the Keurig machine by now. The single serve coffee machine has exploded in popularity, transforming people’s morning routines. I love how simple the design is! I keep a wide variety of K-Cups, which are little flavor pods, in my kitchen. Of course, the best part about the K-Cups is that they are gluten free! What’s awesome is that the Keurig makes so much more than just coffee. Companies that manufacture K-Cups also produce flavors like chai and hot chocolate, and you can even make iced tea! Seriously, the options are killer. There are over 400 varieties from 60 different brands. That means if you can’t live without Dunkin or even Tazo tea, your Keurig can make it! Daiya is a much-loved company that makes some of the best vegan cheeses out there. They have a wide range of products that are all gluten free! The cheeses are a great source of calcium and B12. There are a lot of flavors and styles. The cheese blocks are perfect for slicing and shredding yourself and they are available in jalapeño havarti, cheddar, jack and smoked gouda. For someone who is dairy free, it’s a blessing to be able to have so many different options and get out of that faux cheddar rut! If you’d prefer pre-sliced, Daiya makes that as well. Provolone is my favorite sliced option. For pizzas and tacos, go for the shredded! The mozzarella has upped my homemade pizza game. But if making your own pizza dough is too much work, Daiya has a solution:  gluten free frozen pizzas! There’s Cheeze Lover’s, Margherita, Fire-roasted Vegetable, and Mushroom & Roasted Garlic. The fire roasted vegetable is my favorite, with red onions, green and yellow bell peppers, roasted garlic, tomatoes, basil, and lots of mozzarella cheese! I also love their cream cheese, and you can’t even guess that it’s dairy free! Plus, they have strawberry flavor. How awesome is that? I’m most excited to tell you guys about their new GF Cheezecake! They’re rich and creamy with a delicious gluten free crust! There’s classic New York style, key lime, strawberry, and chocolate. Life changing!
